YOGA TEACHER TRAINING FOR SPECIAL NEEDS (20-Hour Yoga Alliance Registered Continuing Education Course)

Your Sunshine Yoga Teacher Training for Special Needs is a 20-hour Yoga Alliance Registered continuing education course that teaches one the skills necessary to effectively educate children, youth, and adults of diverse abilities about yoga. This course consists of a 2-day long training session and is ideal for anyone who is passionate about sharing yoga with people who have special needs. The strategies and modifications one learns in this class will help to make yoga more accessible to their future students. In this class participants will also learn the tools to help children, youth, and adults with self-regulation, body awareness, social skills, the expression of difficult emotions, language, and so much more. Participants will learn how to conduct classes for individuals who have more severe conditions, in addition to learning how to conduct group classes for those who have mild diagnoses.

No pre-requisites required.

KIDS AND TEENS YOGA TEACHER TRAINING (20-Hour Yoga Alliance Registered Continuing Education Course)

Your Sunshine Yoga Teacher Training is a 20-hour Yoga Alliance Registered continuing education course that teaches one the skills necessary to effectively educate children and youth ages 3 to 18 of diverse abilities about yoga.

This course consists of a 2-day long intensive training session and is ideal for anyone who is passionate about sharing yoga, mindfulness, and healthy living with kids and teens. In this course participants will learn knowledge, techniques, and the tools to help children and youth with self-regulation, body awareness, social skills, the expression of difficult emotions, and so much more. Also, participants would gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between the brain, nervous system, breathing, and body, child development, and how yoga and mindfulness can support effective integration and function.

The course is also designed to support your personal and professional growth and awaken your inner child within through play, laugh, and exploration. Theory, practice, and hands-on experience will create a strong foundation to deliver the effective yoga class to kids and teens ages three to eighteen.

Your Sunshine Curriculum

-What are Yoga and Mindfulness?
– Role of the yoga teacher? Teaching tips, behavior management checklist, that support a loving, non-competitive environment and encourage self-expression and respect for self and others
– What is physical, emotional, mental and energy bodies?
– Body anatomy, understanding emotions, happy balanced body, and awareness of the energy centers
– Self-care resources and tools
– Breathing exercises, yoga poses, partner poses, group poses, and relaxation techniques
– Visualizations, themes, stories, yoga games, and creative movement ideas
– Incorporating music, songs, books, yogic themes, games, props
– My First Lesson Plan: 3-6 years old, 6-9 years old, 10-18 years old
– Adaptations and considerations for special groups: special needs children, teens, families, etc.
– Practice teaching the class and ‘being’ the child/student

Why Yoga for children and youth?

Yoga is an amazing way to work on all systems of the body, enhance the brain and keep one’s mind at peace. Specific types of breathing and yoga postures allow more oxygen to be brought to brain cells, leading to increased stimulation, attention, and concentration. Oxygenating the brain can help to rejuvenate the damaged areas. Yoga poses combined with certain breathing techniques helps the body in a multitude of ways, it improves metabolism, calms the nervous system, improves sleep, increase body awareness, and increases body strength.

Training is developed by Anastasia Martynova, ERYT -200 is a Founder of Your Sunshine Program and National Integrative Wellness and Resource Center nonprofit charitable organization and has extensive experience in yoga, mindfulness, and meditation. She is a dedicated yoga teacher and recognized for her powerful practice, intuitive understanding of the body, mind, and spirit and her creative, and engaging teaching style. She believes that yoga is a journey to recalibrate the biomechanics of the body, release tension through movement, increase strength, flexibility, and balance while harmonizing the body, mind, and spirit through the breath, postures, relaxation, and meditation.
Having grown up as a child with special needs, Anastasia Martynova, gained lifelong insights through her first-hand experiences in what it truly feels like to be different from others. While facing her own challenges in the context of complex societal norms and harsh misconceptions, she developed a motivation to look beyond limitations, while allowing for the growth of deep compassion and keen understanding toward all individuals with special needs.

SCHOOL- BASED YOGA TRAINING FOR TEACHERS & STAFF

 3-hours professional development training designed for Educators, School Counselors, and Therapists. During this training, educators delve into discovery process by polishing their way of living, releasing tension & stress, and finding their inner peace. Educators will learn effective yoga poses, breathing techniques, and relaxation tools to help their students with self-regulation, body awareness, social skills, fitness, and so much more!  This training program will provide your staff with sustainable teaching tools for easily integrating yoga and mindfulness into daily classroom life. This training is taught during in-service days, after school hours, or at select conferences. The main goal of the training and different modules is to help students to transform their emotions through mindfulness to kindness, peace, compassion, love, and honesty.

  • Learn tools how to improve classroom management, understand the cues of the student’s behavior, and how proactively address students’ needs.

No Prerequisites! Participants are encouraged to wear regular, comfortable clothing to the workshop. This accessible, fun and informative workshop will relax and inspire you.
